- Offer "advanced mode" toggle
Concern: "Users won't set up wallets"
Solution:
- Show value first (pending zaps)
- Make setup < 2 minutes
- Offer help via support
Concern: "Legal/regulatory issues"
Solution:
- Users are p2p transacting
- App doesn't custody funds
- Provide disclaimers
- Consult legal counsel
Concern: "Spam/abuse"
Solution:
- Rate limiting
- Minimum zap amounts (10 sats)
- Report/block features
- Community moderation
Key Insights & Recommendations
1. Visibility is Everything
The current implementation hides zaps on detail pages. Moving zap counts to cards (list/map views) will 10x visibility and engagement.
2. Social Proof Sells
Seeing others zap creates FOMO and curiosity. Leaderboards and total counts make it real.
3. Incentivize Early
Don't wait for users to create content to show value. Show pending zaps immediately.
4. Make it Local
Connect digital zaps to real-world benefits (discounts, lessons, events). This is the killer feature.
5. Education Over Assumption
Don't assume users know Bitcoin. Meet them where they are with simple, jargon-free education.
6. Gamify the Journey
Badges, leaderboards, streaks → make zapping addictive and fun.
7. Start Small, Think Big
Launch with card zap counts first. Build momentum. Then add advanced features.
Next Steps
- Review this proposal - Get feedback from stakeholders
- Prioritize features - What drives most value fastest?
- Design mockups - Visualize the experience
- Plan sprints - Break into implementable chunks
- Ship & iterate - Launch, measure, improve
Questions to Answer
- What's the minimum viable zap integration?
- Which feature would drive most wallet signups?
- How do we measure success?
- What partnerships should we pursue (shops, coaches)?
- What's the marketing strategy around zaps?
Bottom Line: Zaps should be EVERYWHERE in the app, not hidden on detail pages. They should create a virtuous cycle: see zaps → get curious → set up wallet → send zaps → receive zaps → become advocate. This turns the app into a Bitcoin-powered community platform that funds the local skate scene while driving growth.
