# How to Enable Relatr (ContextVM Global Trust Scores)
|
|
|
|
## 🎯 Quick Start
|
|
|
|
**Relatr is ready to enable** - just needs the service pubkey!
|
|
|
|
### Step 1: Find Relatr's Service Pubkey
|
|
|
|
Try these methods in order:
|
|
|
|
#### Method A: Check Relatr Website
|
|
1. Visit https://www.relatr.xyz/about
|
|
2. Look for "Service Pubkey" or "npub"
|
|
3. Copy the 64-character hex pubkey (or npub to convert)
|
|
|
|
#### Method B: Auto-Discover via SkateSpots
|
|
1. Open SkateSpots
|
|
2. Go to **Settings → Advanced**
|
|
3. Scroll to **"Relatr Integration"** card
|
|
4. Click **"Auto-Discover"** button
|
|
5. System searches Nostr for Relatr profiles
|
|
6. If found, pubkey auto-fills!
|
|
|
|
#### Method C: Ask ContextVM
|
|

### Step 2: Enable in SkateSpots
|
|
|
|
1. Go to **Settings → Advanced**
|
|
2. Find **"Relatr Integration"** card
|
|
3. Enter the service pubkey (if not auto-filled)
|
|
4. Optionally change relay (default: `wss://relay.damus.io`)
|
|
5. Click **"Enable Relatr"**
|
|
6. ✅ Done! Refresh the page
|
|
|
|
### Step 3: Verify It's Working
|
|
|
|
**Check Trust Badges:**
|
|
- Visit `/map` or `/events`
|
|
- Look at trust badges on content cards
|
|
- Console should show: `[Relatr] Trust score for ...`
|
|
|
|
**Check Community Stats:**
|
|
- Go to `/stats`
|
|
- Should show "Powered by Relatr" when enabled
|
|
- Global trust metrics displayed
|
|
|
|

## 🔧 Troubleshooting
|
|
|
|
### "Enable Relatr" Button is Disabled
|
|
|
|
**Reason**: No valid pubkey entered
|
|
|
|
**Fix**:
|
|
- Enter exactly 64 hex characters (a-f, 0-9)
|
|
- OR click "Auto-Discover" to search
|
|
- OR convert npub to hex using https://nostr.band
|
|
|
|
### Auto-Discover Finds Nothing
|
|
|
|
**Reason**: Relatr service not publishing kind 0 profile
|
|
|
|
**Fix**:
|
|
- Manually get pubkey from relatr.xyz
|
|
- Check Relatr GitHub for documentation
|
|
- Contact ContextVM team
|
|
|
|
### Relatr Enabled But Scores Don't Change
|
|
|
|
**Possible Causes:**
|
|
1. **Wrong relay** - Relatr not publishing to that relay
|
|
2. **No assertions** - Relatr hasn't scored those pubkeys yet
|
|
3. **Cache** - Browser cache showing old scores
|
|
|
|
**Fix:**
|
|
- Try different relay: `wss://nip85.nostr.band`
|
|
- Clear browser cache and refresh
|
|
- Check console for `[Relatr]` log messages
|
|
|
|

|
|
## 📊 What Changes When Enabled
|
|
|
|
### Before (Local WoT):
|
|
- Trust based on YOUR social graph only
|
|
- 2-hop maximum (friends-of-friends)
|
|
- Fast but limited scope
|
|
- Works offline
|
|
|
|
### After (Relatr + Local WoT):
|
|
- Trust based on ENTIRE Nostr network
|
|
- Multi-hop traversal (deeper connections)
|
|
- NIP-05 + Lightning verification
|
|
- Global spam/sybil resistance
|
|
- Falls back to local if Relatr unavailable
|
|
|
|

## 🧪 Testing Relatr
|
|
|
|
Once enabled, test with these pubkeys:
|
|
|
|

**Expected Behavior:**
|
|
- Console logs: `[Relatr] Trust score for abc123: 75`
|
|
- Trust badges update to show global scores
|
|
- Community Stats shows Relatr metrics
|
|
|
|

## 💡 Why Use Relatr?
|
|
|
|
### Local WoT Limitations:
|
|
- ❌ Can't see beyond your social graph
|
|
- ❌ Limited to 2 hops
|
|
- ❌ Misses widely-trusted users you don't follow
|
|
- ❌ Easy to game with fake follows
|
|
|
|
### Relatr Advantages:
|
|
- ✅ Global network perspective
|
|
- ✅ Deeper graph traversal (3+ hops)
|
|
- ✅ Profile validation (NIP-05, Lightning)
|
|
- ✅ Sybil-resistant (harder to fake)
|
|
- ✅ Centralized computation (fast results)
|
|
- ✅ Nostr-native (NIP-85 events)
|
|
|
|
### Best of Both Worlds:
|
|
When Relatr is enabled, SkateSpots uses **hybrid scoring**:
|
|
- Your direct follows → Use local (instant, private)
|
|
- Unknown users → Use Relatr (global perspective)
|
|
- Blend scores for best accuracy
|
|
|
|
